Roots:

Anna grew up in Melbourne, one of seven children. At the age of thirteen business took the family to the UK where they settled just north of London in the old Roman town of Verulanium, now St Albans. Anna completed a foundation course at the Hertfordshire College of Art prior to studying Hotel and Institutional Management at Oxford followed by a year at the Cordon Blue School in London.
In 1983 Anna returned to Australia, choosing to live in Sydney - her home of the past 20 years, where she married and raises her daughters.
Prior to refocusing on her art practice, Anna pursued a successful business career.
In 2003 Anna graduated from the National Art School with a BA in Fine Arts and was awarded the Robin Gibson prize for outstanding work.
In 2004 Anna won 1st prize in the Tyree-Tycan “Works on Paper” Exhibition.
Anna has held exhibitions at Robin Gibson, Quadrivium and at Barry Stern Gallery (Maunsell-Wicks)
In June 2005 Anna’s work “Nuordrashore circa 1815” received an honorable mention as runner up in the “Art on the Rocks” Exhibition, as well as winning the Peoples Choice Award.
Artist’s Statement:

Anna’s work is embedded in the landscape. Her recent work consists of assemblages made with the found object. Anna seeks out materials that elicit a particular emotive association and beauty. The objects themselves have integrity because of their history. She strives to give the materials an equal footing and lose their individual character by being evaluated against each other. By creating, recycling and juxtaposing these fragments as assemblage, a process of metamorphosis occurs, uniting the disparate elements into a visual language which explores the concept of truth to materials while simultaneously usurping that concept.
